Downloading the McDelivery app wasn't an issue for millennial families in the GCC region, where smartphone penetration exceeds 100%, and users download five or more new apps monthly. The challenge was that customers often forgot about the app after their first use, leading to deletion or a return to generic ordering apps.
To encourage consumers to download, keep, and frequently use the McDelivery app, we devised a simple and fun giveaway promotion: changing the app icon.
